The “I Ching” Connection

The ancient Chinese text the “I Ching” is often referred to as the “Book of Changes”.  The text outlines a number of concepts, including the inevitability of change, the evolution of events as a process, and the dynamic balance that exists between opposites—the yin and yang of Chinese cosmology.

The “I Ching” is believed to have originated around 5,000 years ago.  It is made up of a series of predictions represented by a set of 64 line arrangements called hexagrams.  Today, it is widely used in the western world as a tool of divination:  three coins are thrown six times to produce one of the 64 hexagrams, which is then interpreted according to the “I Ching”.

Many scholars, including the famous Swiss psychologist Carl Jung, have been fascinated by the contents of the “I Ching”.  The “I Ching” played a significant role in the development of Jung’s theory of synchronicity, which explains the meaningful coincidences that occur in life:  thinking of someone and suddenly receiving a phone call from them, having financial problems but somehow finding the money to pay for the basics, or humming a song and then turning on the radio to discover that it’s being broadcast.

Time wave Zero?

The Chinese “Book of Changes” also featured prominently in the work of writer and philosopher Terence McKenna, who put forth the notion that the “I Ching” originally may have been devised as a calendar.  McKenna noticed a correlation between the numerical sequences within the “I Ching” and various astronomical cycles.  For example, the number 6 (the number of lines in each hexagram) multiplied by 64 (the total number of hexagrams) equals 384, the number of days in 13 lunar months.

Through his interpretations of the “I Ching”, Terence McKenna created what is known as novelty theory (“novelty” in this context referring to something novel or new).  McKenna devised a time wave to calculate the ebb and flow of novelty in the history of the universe and predicted that a period of maximum novelty, or “newness” would be realized in the year 2012.

In May 1997, Terence McKenna was interviewed on Art Bell’s American talkback radio show “Coast to Coast AM”.  Here is an excerpt from the transcript of that interview:

“Art Bell (AB):  When you project toward 2012, what is the magnitude of the spike or difference there?  If you can give us an idea of the magnitudes along the way…

The 11:11 Connection

Although there have been some discrepancies about the ending of the Mayan calendar, the majority of analysts believe that the Mayan Long Count calendar ends on 21 December 2012 and that it point to the December solstice on that date.  Every year the time of the December solstice [def.:  either of the two times when the sun is at its greatest distance from the celestial equator, about June 21 and Dec 21.  Equinox:  either of the two annual occasions, about March 21 and Sept. 22, when night and day are of equal length.] changes and astronomers have forecast that on 21 December 2012 it will occur at 11:11 am UTC.

Over the past century, a growing number of people have reported feeling a strong connection to the 11:11 time code.  Millions now believe that it is a time of great significance, and, as 2012 draws near, an increasing number suspect that it may somehow be connected to the Great Cycle of the Mayan Long Count calendar.

Sol, what exactly is the 11:11 phenomenon?  According to George Barnard, therapist and author of the book “The Search for 11:11”, there exists a group of planetary helpers known as “midwayers.”  There are exactly 1,111 of these so-called midwayers, and the 11:11prompt is their way of tapping into our innate ability for pattern recognition to let us know that they are here.  Barnard says that millions of people have begun responding to the 11:11 prompts; they see the numbers and feel some sort of deep connection.  It is only upon further investigation that they discover they are not alone, that an entire network of 11:11ers exists.  [H:  I’m not sure what is meant by “midwayers”, but you DO have help from the Cosmos.  God would not leave you during such an incredible time of evolution and transition of a species of Earth man.]

George Barnard claims that he has been communicating with midwayers for more than 60 years:

A Shift in Consciousness?

It should be noted that not all of those who have studied the Mayan calendar believe that it points to the precession of the equinoxes.  Swedish researcher Carl Johan Calleman has been studying the Mayan calendar for more than 25 years.  Calleman’s research has been focused primarily on the spiritual aspects of the calendar, and his findings have been published in numerous articles and books including “The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness” (2004).

Calleman believes that the Mayan calendar is associated with nine creation cycles, which represent nine levels of consciousness or “Underworlds”.  He has concluded that the nine-story Mayan pyramids—including the Temple of the Inscriptions in Palenque, the Pyramid of the Jaguar in Tikal and the Pyramid of Kukulkan in Chichen Itza—show how each level of consciousness is built on the foundation of the previous level.  It is also his belief that the duration of each Underworld is 20 times shorter than the previous one, and this might explain why time on Earth appears to be speeding up.  [H:  That’s true.]

According to Calleman, the nine levels of consciousness began with the Big Bang and the creation of cell structures 164 billion years ago.  [H:  It was not a “Big Bang, so much as billions of microscopic little ones per centimeter.  The swirling, collecting of those tiny “suns” (atoms, if you will) is what makes up one big sun/star.  God creates only two forms in all nature and the universe:  The perfect carbon sphere, or ball; and the cube, or square box.  This is really ONE form called the CUBE SPHERE of which constitutes this entire thought wave universe of seeming motion.

According to Calleman, there currently exists a conscious evolution towards enlightenment, and with it could come the attainment of what he calls a “none dual cosmic consciousness”; that is, the divides of “rich and poor”, “east and west” and “me and you” will no longer exist, and a new age of understanding on Earth could soon begin.  To quote Calleman:

“When we talk about the Mayan Calendar something profoundly different is meant than just a system to mark off the passage of time.  The Mayan Calendar is above all a prophetic calendar that may help us understand the past and foresee the future.  It is a calendar of the Ages that describes how the progression of Heavens and Underworlds condition[s] the human consciousness and thus the framework for our thinking and acting within a given Age.  The Mayan Calendar provides an exact schedule for the Cosmic Plan and the unfolding of all things that come into existence.  There is now ample empirical evidence for this, something that shines new light on the age old questions of mankind.  Things do exist for a reason.  The reason is that they fit into the divine cosmic plan.  For those that seriously engage in a study of the Mayan Calendar this soon becomes evident and the former materialist world view loses all relevance.”
